Little Cinema First Time Ever at Roisin Dubh Pub

Wednesday saw the Little Cinema move to its new home at the Roisin Dubh Pub.

The event was a sell-out and the place was filled with amazing energy!

Thanks to the Roisin we also debuted a pop corn machine! How cool is that?

Little Cinema Moving to the Roisin Dubh Pub Galway

As some of you might have heard, as of this month, Little Cinema Galway will be moving its screenings to the Roisin Dubh Pub Galway!

We have had a great run in Kelly’s Bar Upstairs for the last four years and are very grateful to the staff there for all the help and memories!

The Roisin Dubh is a very exciting step forward and we can’t wait for what it will bring. The venue has an incredible, long-standing reputation both online and offline and is a great hub for the arts and the craic! While it’s still quaint & intimate, it also has a slightly higher capacity for all ye Little Cinemen & Cinewomen.

The lads there (namely Kevin and Gugai) have been extremely helpful and very keen on having us, even talking about some very cool possible future projects, shh!

They even bought a pop corn machine which we can’t wait to test out! I mean, check it out, it’s proper!

The FIRST EVER SCREENING AT THE ROISIN DUBH will be held on Wednesday 30th July. Doors will be at 9pm, with films starting at 9.30pm. There will be a selection of fine short films, about an hour long screening altogether, with a short intermission in the middle. The entry is a pocket friendly €3. We look forward to welcoming you all there!

Looking Back at the Galway Film Fleadh

Things are starting to settle down after the Galway Film Fleadh, what an amazing experience that was!

The Fleadh is an absolute master-class in the execution of a festival which is inclusive, open, friendly, and downright amazing!
We have just had one the best weeks of our lives there and it’s all down to the people who run the Fleadh, the people who work at the Fleadh, and the people who volunteer at the Fleadh! Galway should be so proud of this week long nugget of absolute joy. We were delighted to have the Little Cinema Galway involved with it in a small way.

We were filming every day, collecting people’s favourite Film Fleadh Memories over the years. There was a beautiful mix of funny, quirky, emotional and educational stories all around. We are going to screen the final video it at the Little Cinema Festival in September (details to be announced soon) and it will also be added to the Fleadh archives for later years!

To our delight, we also had a screening at the Cinemobile on Thursday 10th that featured a selection of short films that represented the flavour of Little Cinema. It was a showcase followed by a debate that focused on grass root film-making in Galway. If you didn’t get a chance to catch the films we screened, you can see them here now:

We would like to thank everyone who bought tickets and made it a sell out show as well as film makers who took to the mike and said some wonderful things! You guys are the heart and soul of the Little Cinema, stay awesome.

We can’t write this post and not commend the Fleadh TV crew. Every single one of the team is super sound and very talented. It was the first year ever of Fleadh Youtube, so they were starting with a blank canvas, but set the bar incredibly high! The guys were working crazy hours with great energy, professional camera work and top notch edits – they even made our waffling look good! Check out the highlights of Day 4, where Little Cinema is featured:

To sum up: we met some beautiful people, collected some moving and hilarious sound bites, ate great food, but most of all – got inspired and invigorated. Every now and then you need a shining example of just how creative, proactive and helpful people can be in order to get new ideas and keep the old ones exciting. Thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome and who made the week so special. We feel a void now that it is over but I can’t wait until next year!

Little Cinema at 26th Galway Film Fleadh

We are very proud to announce that Little Cinema is going to be a part of the 26th Annual Galway Film Fleadh that runs 8-13th July. This is the first year Little Cinema is involved and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

There’s going to be a Little Cinema Showcase on Thursday the 10th July at 8pm in Cinemobile followed by a talk about grass-roots film-making.

We would like to pool a selection of films previously submitted to the Little Cinema and create an hour long line-up of films that best represents the spirit of our screenings.

Film-makers that have previously submitted to us – get in touch if you’d like your film to be shown! Just drop us an e-mail at [email protected] We would ask that the film-maker submitting is able to attend the screening on the 10th July.

The Film Fleadh has a wealth of top notch film-making for you to experience, featuring 18 world premières along with a number of European and Irish premières. The full programme is available here.

Yesterday, the Film Fleadh Launch took place at the Radisson Hotel and it definitely has us buzzing for what’s to come!
