Hey all! What a great start to our year at Little Cinema, with a sold out screening of amazing short films last Wednesday at the Roisin Dubh! Thanks so much to everyone who came along on the night to support independent short filmmakers. It was great to see so many new faces, hope to see you all again next time!    Ireland, 1185, Giraldus, a Welsh Bishop, arrives in Ireland on the first day of lent, accompanied by his young novice, Bartholanus and they meet the natives.

   Aqua Profunda follows Mark an enthusiast of all things aquatic and his difficulties with family, love and finding direction in life.

   An insight into conservation and environmental efforts in and around Galway. The thoughts of three major contributors are used as a basis; Brendan ‘Speedie’ Smith, Ruth Hanniffy and Pauline O’Reilly.

   A Fox and a Stag search for each other across TIME AND SPACE.

5. The Amiga Bond, submitted by Kenny Gaughan

   A short documentary featuring Trevor Dickinson explaining the bond which unites Amiga users the world over.

6.  What Brings You Joy, submitted by Mairead Dewar

   Asking the people of Galway one simple question. What brings you joy?

7.  The Life of a Modern Samurai, submitted by Barra Convery & Daniel Mulcahy

   A short documentary film on the history and modern ways of the old martial art, Kendo.

8.  Human Asbestos, submitted by JOIN

   A journey through song and laughter with two bald friends.

This year marked our 7th annual Christmas Special and it was a magic number indeed. It was a cosy Tuesday night on 19th December and we screened seven wonderful films. There were a few reunions with some special Little Cinema folk, festive films, touching stories and pieces made specifically for the night, which is always a joy.

3.Wesley Houdyshell – Sweetheart

This was the second film of Wesley’s that we’ve shown at Little Cinema and this time he was able to attend all the way from California. Very neat black and white film with a Grinch-style motif and a cool twist!

4.Caitlin Jansen – Under The Same Stars

A very honest, sweet doc about the years and miles that separate us from our loved ones at Christmas.

5.Christian Craughwell – Ornamental

Halloween meets Christmas in this spine-chilling short.

6.Emily Murray and Jamie Hooper – A Christmas Karen

The guys have really knocked it out of the park with this one. A modern Irish take on a Christmas Carol.

7.Kenny Gaughan – The Ritual

A very exciting collaboration between Little Cinema peeps. A heart-warming piece about experiencing Galway on your own and random acts of kindness.

Hello all! We were delighted this year to be asked to be part of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival. We’ve had some hilarious material screened at Little Cinema over the years, and we were excited to see what new sketches you could come up with for the night. Thanks to everyone for making such a huge effort, the  night was a huge success!
