Hello all, and welcome to our recap of another great month at Little Cinema! We hope you’ve all been enjoying the lovely weather this long weekend. Huge thanks to everyone who made it  to our screening last week, and fair play to Julia who took over hosting duties this month, and absolutely killed it! But thanks most of all to all who submitted their films to be screened – if you missed out, here’s your chance to catch up and check out May’s line up.

   This film follows a 23 year old girl, Megan, for an entire day as she has given up her

   phone for 24 hours. It shows our dependence on technology and how it affects our

   mood when it is taken away.

   On his birthday, a young man is haunted with reminders of his birthday last year which he spent at a party with his twin brother. But this year, he is alone

   One womans tale of how she struggles to deal with a crisis that is crippling not only
   her but also thousands across the country.

   An adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s poem ‘the mirror’. Substituting the mirror for the toilet bowl.

5. A series of hilarious comedy sketches in the Irish language, made by Project Spatula, a collective of local filmmakers and artists.

Which leads us nicely to next weekend’s second 48 Hour Film Challenge, in association with Galway Film Centre! We’re super excited for this – last year was so much fun, and the quality of the films made was exceptional. We’re expecting the same high standard this year, and we hope you can all join us for the screening on Sunday night (June 10th), which is completely free – ticket are available now at this link. You’re also welcome to join us at the Launch of the challenge, on this Thursday (June 7th) in the Portershed at 7pm.

Hello all, and welcome to our recap of another great month at Little Cinema! For March, we put a callout for Irish language films, and were delighted to get some gems, so huge thanks to all who worked hard on these to get them ready for the screening! The whole screening was a delight, and we were delighted to see some new faces on stage introducing their work. As ever, if you missed out or would just like to watch these films again, we’ve put together a list of films from the screening which are currently available online. So before the long weekend ends, why not settle down and enjoy some incredible shorts with a nice cuppa!

   The Irish have a deep ‘Grá’ for their native language that is hard to explain, but many are afraid to speak
   it.
   Áine Gallagher questions the love & fear that Irish people feel towards Gaeilge as she develops a

   bilingual comedy show.

   A couple celebrate there anniversary at a fancy restaurant but soon find out the boyfriend has an unexpected sexual fantasy.

Hello again! Hope you’ve all enjoyed the magical few days of beautiful snowy weather these last few days, and that you all stayed safe and warm! Huge thanks to all who braved the cold last Wednesday to join us for another fantastic screening – was great to see so many of you there, and our filmmakers were very grateful to see another packed house.    Little Cinema As Gaeilge/GalwayTheatre Festival Promos

   This month we’re looking for films made in the Irish language, and in May we’ll be collaborating once again with Galway Theatre Festival, in which we’ll be screening films which must be made in one single take, so get your creative juices flowing! Here’s two films from previous years for inspiration.

   Remaking classic film scenes in Irish is just an example of what you can do for Little Cinema March, but anything made in Irish is eligible!

   Hostage was made entirely in one take, and was one of my favourite Little Cinema productions to be part of, even if I did get killed at the end (sorry for the spoiler).

   A few suffragettes from 1918, time travel to present day Galway for a day to try and help spread the word about repealing the 8th.
